DATAG 2026 Summer Conference

The Director of Information and Technology and well as the Director of Registration and Special Projects will speak to the idea of breaking down the silos in education and fostering collaboration with technology software, district data, and curriculum and instruction.

In an era of rapidly evolving AI tools, districts must ensure that data use remains purposeful, ethical, and centered on student learning. This session explores a human-driven, data-informed approach to decision-making, highlighting how tools such as Microsoft Copilot and Google NotebookLM can support educators in identifying trends, summarizing data, and generating instructional ideas using their own district resources. Building on the Student Data Principles, participants will examine how to responsibly integrate AI into existing systems while moving from data collection to meaningful instructional action.

This workshop will dive into economical, efficient and exciting strategies to building data culture, consuming data and accelerating student learning. Participants will leave with a roadmap ready for immediate implementation. This workshop is designed for district leaders, school leaders, teachers and data enthusiasts with children.

Districts have robust assessment data but limited insight into what students actually experience during instruction. This session introduces LessonLoop, an AI-powered professional learning tool that generates real-time engagement data from a single lesson—capturing student understanding, motivation, and productive struggle. Grounded in research and aligned to Portrait of a Graduate outcomes, participants will see how engagement data can inform instruction, professional learning, and district decision-making while maintaining responsible AI and data privacy practices.

The NYS Portrait of a Graduate shifts education toward a holistic, competency-based model beyond Regents exams — requiring districts to track a broader range of student skills.
Kathy and Jeff will demo Edvision Technologies Whole Child platform with specific attention to the Portrait of a Graduate module which unifies academic, behavioral, and social-emotional data into one view. This helps districts track skills like critical thinking and communication, identify student needs early, and support whole-child development beyond a single test score.
